London Liberal Democrat MEP Sarah Ludford has written with her colleagues Tom Brake MP and Simon Hughes MP to the Director of Public Prosecutions about his failure to bring a prosecution against the police officer seen on video striking Ian Tomlinson who died shortly afterwards.

Commenting on Labour's decision to oppose legislation for a referendum on the alternative vote, which was a commitment in their manifesto, Liberal Democrat Deputy Leader, Simon Hughes said:

Tom Brake has joined forces with UK Youth, the leading national youth work charity, to call on the country to be Positive about Youth. The charity is celebrating 100 years of working with young people and is using the opportunity this presents to celebrate all the positive things that young people do.

The International Court of Justice has ruled that Kosovo's declaration of independence in 2008 did not violate international law. The court therefore rejected the objections of Serbia from which Kosovo split after years of oppression and conflict and after NATO bombed Serbia to stop its war on Kosovans.

The coalition's most progressive policies are Lib Dem ones. There is much to do, but I am proud of what we have achieved
