Thank you for your support!7.29.35pm BST (GMT +0100) Sat 10th May 2008 Wandsworth Liberal Democrats thank all those who voted for the party and its candidates in the recent Mayoral and London Assembly elections, and all those who helped in the campaign. Special thanks is due to Shas Sheehan the Wandsworth & Merton Assembly candidate, and Wandsworth member Jeremy Ambache who was on the London member party list. They both worked tirelessly to get the message across. "Of course we are disappointed not to have done better," says Matthew Green, Chair for Battersea & Tooting Lib Dems, "but it was very hard to get attention amongst all the hoo-ha about Boris & Ken. This raised turnout for both Labour and the Conservatives, but not us. But we got a positive reception on the doorstep and found new helpers for our campaigning. "Let me congratulate Boris Johnson on being elected London Mayor, and Richard Tracey on becoming London Assembly representative for Wandsworth & Merton. Let us hope that they can both raise the public's perception of the the office of Mayor and the London Assembly. In the case of the Mayor we need less PR and more focus on meeting campaign promises. In the case of our Assembly representative we need to see much more visibility. It's no wonder that so many people don't know what the Assembly does when so many of its members seem invisible after they are elected."
