London Tube passengers must not suffer from Metronet collapse

6.44.06pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 17th Oct 2007

Local Liberal Democrats have expressed their concerns that the collapse of Tube company Metronet might affect services to Londoners. Metronet, which was brought in by the Mayor Livingstone to upgrade much of our outdated Underground rail and stations, went bust earlier this year.

"Most tube passengers are well aware many parts of the Victorian system are desperately in need of modernisation. It would not be fair for the Transport for London, and the tube operators, to make the London fare payers pay the Labour government's and Labour Mayor's incompetence over the privatisation of this contract," says campaigner Jeremy Ambache.

If you agree that transport passengers should not lose out, you can sign the Liberal Democrats petition to the Mayor. But hurry as it will close soon!

The petition can be signed on line at - http://campaigns.libdems.org.uk/tubepenalty
