Tooting library plans scaled back

6.54.34pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 27th Apr 2007

Plans for a major redevelopment of Tooting Library, which were put out to consultation before last year's council election, have now been scaled back. Wandsworth Council have submitted a more limited plan for Lottery funding, and this is far from certain.

Lib Dem Campaigner Jeremy Ambache says "Wandsworth Tories have been misleading us all! The consultation exercise last year cost £2,500 of taxpayers money and it has been wasted. We are campaigning for the Council to make improvements that are desperately needed - more computers, better study facilities, and better access for parents with children."
